A while back my parents mentioned that they didnt really know what my new house looks like and suggested I post some pictures.
For the record, I have been in this house for four months now, but I guess they were right. I havent really posted anything, at least not since I finished moving in and “decorating”. To some people, pictures of the inside of their house might be a little personal. But, I guess it’s a little late for me to start worrying about that now…
Kitchen. A little messy, but at least I’m honest.
.
Baby stove and propane tank. Is it dangerous to keep one of these inside the house, you ask? I don’t know. But to my knowledge, no one in the neighborhood has exploded yet.
.
Check out that awesome post card collection. Keep ‘em coming people!!
.

Close-up on top of the fridge with my favorite cocktail napkins. Fun Fact: Turns out you don’t need to refrigerate eggs.
.
The jenky blender I inherited from an H14 volunteer alongside the 1987 edition of the Betty Crocker Cookbook that my mom sent me back when I first admitted I didn’t know how to cook. (For the record I’ve come a long way. Thanks Betty)

My office/where all the blogging magic happens. The cardboard box is to keep my cords and chargers safe from Bernice who has a penchant for chewing through anything expensive.
.
My “Where I’ve Been Map” that I proudly display on my wall. All the little black circles are places where I have either worked, partied, or spent the night. Sometimes all three. I think I’ve covered quite a bit of ground here in Honduras.
.
Bernice, do you think I can’t see you in there? Honestly…
.
Boring, I know. But I didn’t have a lot to work with.

A fairly modern bathroom, with running water most of the time. But the pressure is never strong enough to actually use the shower so I wind up taking bucket showers back there every day. And I frequently have to flush the toilet by dumping a bucket of water in there.
.
The second bedroom was, obviously, turned into a glorious walk-in closet. Metal pole hung from the ceiling beams works like a charm.
.
The backyard where all the laundry gets washed. This is the pila – giant tank full of water that I try to keep filled for when there is none running in the pipes in the house. All the other stuff on the ground is either food or toys for the bunny. My favorite activity is spreading a bit of peanut butter deep in a cereal box and just watching her go to town. It’s a riot.

The rest of the backyard. You might be able to see my neighbors rooster along that turquoise wall. I hate that bird with every fiber of my being. It has been my 5 am wake-up call since the day I moved in and I would kill it with my bare hands if someone gave me half a chance.

There you have it. My humble place. Its clean, its safe, its big enough for Lil’ Poop Factory and I to live comfortably. And it’s only 2,000 lempira to boot ($105).
