This has nothing specifically to do with Honduras, but I just had to share it. Via my favorite celeb-gossip website Jezebel (don´t judge) I stumbled upon this amazing artist, James Mollison, who is photographing children all over the world and the places they sleep, aptly titled “Where Children Sleep”. I highly encourage you to check it out. http://www.jamesmollison.com/wherechildrensleep.php IMO, the juxtaposition of the different children who live on the West Bank speaks volumes. The portraits are haunting in some ways, and some of the photos of kids rooms literally make me want to cry. Partly because some of the images are eerily similar to the houses in the town where I work. Also the child from Kentucky had me in stitches. Stereotype much? I just love art about culture that simultaneously gets you thinking and tugs at your heartstrings.
Oh yes and HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone. If you feel like it, read about my Halloween last year, and know that nothing bad happened this year. Unless you include my friends and I showing up to a nightclub and being the only ones in odd, half-assed costumes thrown together at, literally, the last minute. As if we don’t get stared at enough as is…
And how do Hondurans not know what a toga is??
Paz,
Sarita.
